How thank you perks work

Brands that do good set up a page on Tap4Change and choose the charities they back. When you donate through that page, 100% of your donation goes to the charity, and the brand says thanks with a perk, like a voucher, a discount or a free product.

Your perk code is saved in your Tap4Change profile, so make sure you register when you donate. Most offers have a minimum donation, a limit of one per person and an expiry date, so check the details on the brand's page before you give.

The perk is a small thank you, never the reason to give. Looking for a present? Our guide to gifts that donate to charity has ideas, and brands that donate to charity shows who's behind them.

A thank you perk from brands that do good

Some donations come with a thank you perk from a partner brand, like a voucher or a free product. It's a small thanks for showing up, never the reason to give. Offers change often, so check what's on when you donate.

Perks that fit your everyday

Most perks are for things you'd buy anyway. Here are a few ways they fit in, from the brands above.

What your donation actually pays for

Your donation goes to the charity the brand backs, and 100% of it reaches them. It pays for their programs, like mental health support, help for women going back to work, or protecting wildlife. The perk comes from the brand, not from your donation.

Brand details, perks and the charities each brand backs come from its page on Tap4Change. Offers change, so check the brand's page for current terms. For how fees, ACNC registration and tax receipts work, see the Tap4Change FAQs, the ACNC Charity Register and the ATO's gifts and donations guide.

Thank you perk questions, answered

How do I donate and get a gift?

Open a brand's page on Tap4Change, choose one of the charities it backs, and donate at least the minimum amount for the perk. Register at the end of your donation so your perk code is saved in your profile.

Then redeem the perk with the brand, following the details on its offer.

Does all of my donation reach the charity?

Yes. Charities receive 100% of donations made through Tap4Change, and Tap4Change doesn't take a fee. The thank you perk comes from the brand, not from your donation.

When you donate you can add an optional tip, which helps keep the platform running. It's completely optional and separate from your donation.

Are my donations tax deductible?

Yes, if the charity you choose is eligible. Tax deductibility is shown at the top of each charity's page on Tap4Change. Donations to a charity endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), and covered by Item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997, are tax deductible.

The thank you perk comes from the brand, and your donation still goes 100% to the charity. You can download your receipt from your profile to claim it at tax time.

Do thank you perks expire?

Most do. Each offer shows its terms on the brand's page, including the minimum donation, any minimum spend and when the voucher expires.

Offers also change over time, so what's on today may be different next month. It's worth checking back.

Why do brands give thank you perks?

Brands on Tap4Change back causes they care about and want to thank the people who give with them. It's a way for businesses that do good to build a community of customers who care about the same things.

Charities win too: they get more donations and exposure, whatever their marketing budget.
